Gita Canaran is a highly skilled clinical psychologist who uses evidence-based therapies to help individuals with difficulties in the areas of trauma, anxiety, mood and psychosis. She has a specialized interest in the treatment of trauma and uses her 20+ years experience to help uniformed and non-uniformed first responders with the often complex and cumulative effects of stress and trauma. Gita has worked in a variety of clinical settings including in the Treatment and Rehabilitation Program at Parkwood, on the Homewood Crisis-Trauma Response Team, in the WSIB Trauma Specialty Program, and via confidential online videotherapy in private practice. Currently, she is a listed provider for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), and Project Trauma Support (London). She is trained in a variety of treatments including CBT, DBT, CFT, Schema Therapy and EMDR and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Western University.
