COVID-19 – Update on procedures at Archways

December 20, 2021
As before, we are primarily offering our servives via secure video, but we are able to offer some appointments in-person when the clinician determines it is beneficial. All initial appointments are held virtually (by video or phone). If in-person appointments are deemed necessary, both therapist and clients are expected to wear face masks in the therapy office. At Archways we are following safety protocols including COVID-19 self-screening, social distancing, sanitation, and ventilation of rooms in between clients.

COVID-19 and the Delivery of Psychological Services
Psychologists in Ontario (and indeed across Canada) have had to navigate changing directives to ensure safety for our patients. The College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) is supporting us gradually allowing more in-person appointments. However, they also recognize that members will make different judgements based on client needs, whether the service can be effectively delivered virtually, and any vulnerabilities of the clinician, their families, and communities. Further, CPO “expects members to make well-informed and well-reasoned professional judgements regarding what measures they believe are required to allow in-person contact considering their own health and safety as well as that of their staff and clients.” (Email Bulletin: COVID-19 Information for Members, September 23, 2021)

What does this mean for Archways?
We are primarily offering virtual (video or phone) appointments. Approximately 90% of our clients are being seen virtually. However, some of our clinicians are also offering some in-person appointments. Currently all initial appointments are held virtually, to enable the clinician to best assess if an in-person appointment can be offered. Archways Centre for CBT does not currently have a policy of requiring clients to be double-vaccinated, however this can be requested by the individual clinician. Clients are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times in the therapy room. At Archways we are further following safety protocols including COVID-19 self-screening, social distancing, sanitation, and ventilation of rooms in between clients.

August 1, 2021
We are are currently primarily offering virtual sessions. However, we have been permitted to start a gradual reopening, allowing some clients to attend sessions "in-person" at the clinic. We to continue to use the highest level of precautions (mandatory masks, sanitization, ventilation, distancing measures, COVID-19 self-screening etc.) to keep our clinicians safe, and those clients attending sessions in-person. Initial appointments for new clients will only be offered virtually for the time being as we monitor our numbers to ensure we are able to continue adhering to Ministry of Health's COVID-19 Operational Requirements: Health Sector Restart.

Ontario enters Step 3 of it's Roadmap to Reopening. Until we are given new guidance from the College of Psychologists of Ontario, we will continue to offer virtual sessions primarily.
Recently there has been some indication from Health Canada about further loosening of restrictions for those who have received two vaccinations. At this point we to continue to use the highest level of precautions (masks, sanitization, daily COVID screening etc.) to keep our clinicians safe, and those clients attending sessions in-person.

Ontario enters Step 2 of it's Roadmap to Reopening. Whilst good news for many, it does not change our service delivery: Until we are given new guidance from the College of Psychologists of Ontario, we will continue to offer virtual sessions primarily.

We have all adapted to having "virtual" sessions with our clients, and it seems they are too. In fact when asked, many clients are requesting to continue with secure video sessions after we "get back to normal". Well we don't even know when "normal" will happen, if at all. So for now, we continue to book new clients appointments via our secure and confidential video service. Approximate wait times are listed on the banner at the top of this page. As always, we are closely following recommendations by Health Canada and by the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and we will make any changes to our practice delivery upon their advice.

At Archways we are continuing to operate at full strength and appointments are going ahead as planned (primarily virtually). During the most recent Stay-at-Home order issued in Ontario, Archways continues to operate at full strength and appointments are going ahead as planned (primarily virtually). New clients are welcome to book an appointment to meet with a clinician using a secure and confidential video service. Virtual therapy has the ability to reach those in underserviced parts of Ontario. COVID, for this (and only this) we are grateful.

During the most recent Stay-at-Home order issued in Ontario, Archways continues to operate at full strength and appointments are going ahead as planned (primarily virtually). New clients are welcome to book an appointment to meet with a clinician using a secure and confidential video service. We are quite adept at virtual therapy now and recognize the benefits including skipping on travel time and parking fees. Heck, you don't even need to get out of bed (although we do encourage this as a daily habit).

April 19, 2021
Ontario has strengthened enforcement of the current province-wide Stay-at-Home order. These changes do not affect operations at Archways Centre for CBT. Appointments will be going ahead as planned, and new clients are welcome to book an appointment to meet with a clinician "virtually" using a secure and confidential video service. We look forward to helping you and getting through this together.

April 7, 2021
Residents in Ontario are currently under a "Stay At Home" order for a period of 28 days. These new restrictions do not affect operations at Archways Centre for CBT. Appointments will be going ahead as planned, and new clients are welcome to book an appointment to meet with a clinician "virtually" using a secure and confidential video service. We look forward to working with you during this challenging time in our lives.

The Province of Ontario is currently "Shutdown" for a period of 28 days. As regulated healthcare providers we are permitted to continue working. As such, if you have an appointment booked during the lockdown, you can anticipate this taking place as planned. For new clients, we would be happy to book you an appointment using "Doxy" a secure and confidential video service that is user-friendly and can be used on cell phone, tablet or computer. Get in touch via phone, email, or using the contact form on this website for more info.

Happy New (& Improved) Year!
Ontario continues to be in the Grey/Lockdown level of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework. As members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), the recommendations for how we operate (as regulated healthcare professionals) have not changed. As such, if you have an appointment booked during the lockdown, you can anticipate this taking place as planned. If you had previously been permitted to be seen for an in-person appointment, this will also take place as planned at the office (unless you have been contacted directly by your clinician, or if you fail our symptom screening questions).

As members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), the recommendations for how we operate (as regulated healthcare professionals) have not changed. As such, if you have an appointment booked during the lockdown, you can anticipate this taking place as planned. London and Middlesex County are currently in the Red/Control level of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework. Significant changes are in place for gatherings, travel and various workplaces and settings. However these changes are not affecting our procedures at Archways. We have been offering therapy sessions primarily virtually (by telephone and secure video) since March 2020 and will continue to do so, as recommended by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

December 7, 2020
Archways Centre for CBT is "open", however continues to offer therapy sessions primarily virtually (by telephone and secure video). We are closely monitoring recommendations provided by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

We are not anticipating changes to our service delivery for the foreseeable future. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you'd like to discuss your options further.

July 20, 2020 - September 6, 2020
As you probably know, London was permitted to enter Stage 3 of provincial "re-opening" on July 17th. Since that time, psychologists have not been given any new recommendations when it comes to getting back to normal and seeing our clients in the office.

Archways Centre for CBT is continuing to offer therapy primarily virtually (by telephone and secure video), as recommended by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO). However, when virtual therapy is neither practical nor clinically appropriate, a client might be permitted to be seen for an in-person appointment.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has stated that “Health Care Providers are in the best position to determine which services should continue to be provided remotely (online, by telephone or other virtual means) and which should be provided in-person."  Therefore, the decision to offer in-person sessions at Archways Centre for CBT is at the discretion of the individual’s psychologist or psychological associate.
