Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Screening Tool

This screening tool is designed as a guide to determine if you are having an adverse response to a traumatic event.

A high score on this checklist does not necessarily mean you have PTSD. These questions were developed by Laura van Dernoot Lipsky (2009) ‘Trauma Stewardship’ and may help you to identify different areas you are struggling with.

Do I have ptsd?

Do you have intrusions about the event in at least one of the following ways?

  • Feeling helpless and hopeless

  • A sense that one can never do enough

  • Hypervigilance

  • Diminished creativity

  • Inability to embrace complexity

  • Minimizing

  • Chronic exhaustion or physical ailments

  • Inability to listen

  • Dissociative moments

  • Sense of persecution

  • Guilt

  • Fear

  • Anger and Cynicism

  • Inability to empathise or numbing

  • Addictions

  • Grandiosity: an inflated sense of the importance of one’s work
